Interested in volunteering with Bridges in Seattle? Throughout the year we have opportunities for volunteers in our office, school programs and at special events.

We will add you to our volunteer database, and call on you when we have a volunteer project that is a good match for your interests and experience. We will also add you to our general database so you will get all the latest news about Bridges.
VOLUNTEER IN A SEATTLE CLASSROOM
In Seattle's fall and spring, volunteers are essential to our school programs. Bridges volunteers work alongside Bridges teachers and staff to apply digital storytelling tools to the classroom curriculum.
As a classroom volunteer, you will generally work with a small group of students from week to week, to help them create digital stories. Activities may include reading and discussing articles relevant to digital story topics, photo shoots and media management, accompanying the class on field trips, reading and discussing messages on the Bridges website, composing and posting messages to the Bridges website, writing scripts, recording narrations, and editing a multimedia story.
These positions are ideal for volunteers who enjoy working with youth ages 12-18, are comfortable with technology, would describe themselves as very patient, and are excited about being part of a dynamic learning environment.
To ensure our Bridges students have the best experience possible with our program, volunteering with Bridges in schools requires:
- An informal interview with Bridges staff,
- A commitment to volunteer at least once a week for 8 weeks (in the same classroom),
- A background check,
- Attendance at one orientation session is also mandatory (for new classroom volunteers). The required orientation session will help prepare you for working in a Bridges classroom.

Our office is located within Getty Images, at 601 N 34th Street. Parking is on the street.
Volunteers will be placed at one of the Seattle-area schools we work with, and programs will start in late September or early October depending on the classroom.
Orientation sessions are only held if there are registered participants; to sign up for a session please send an email to Tania Westby – tania@bridges2understanding.org and indicate which session you want to attend.
